Career Options

Marketing is essential to every organization so consider what you love to do and there will be a marketing opportunity available whether it is travel and tourism, health care, sports, fishing, fashion, art, filmmaking, farming, high-tech, retailing, or education. All these industries need marketers just like you.

During your academic career at CSUSB use the resources that are available to you to learn about the different careers that are possible and what people do. Consider an Internship with a company, attend campus Career Fairs or get involved in the student chapter of the American Marketing Association to meet those in the field. As well, talk to your professors and attend professional association meetings locally such as the American Advertising Federation, Inland Empire chapter or the Inland Empire chapter of the American Marketing Association to meet those working in the field and network.

Recent studies show careers in Marketing are growing by over 55% in Southern California. Salaries will vary with the size and type of employer, geographic location and related experience.

What will you do when you graduate? How do you prepare? Getting a job IS A JOB and you need to allocate plenty of time for it. Do not wait until you graduate – you won’t be paid as much.
